Realme introduced Realme Buds Wireless a few days ago, and here we are unboxing and reviewing. The new buttons from Realme Wireless come in a large flat packaging, inside the box we have the headset, the user guide, the micro-USB cable for charging and some extra tips.

The wireless buttons have a black and yellow theme with almost the same design as the wired Realme buttons. The headphones are magnetic, which means that you can connect them when you’re not using them.

It also has ear hooks, which ensures a better fit during training. Realme Buds Wireless also has a sweat resistance rating, which means you can use them during intense or running exercises. The headphones are really comfortable and light.

In this Realme Buds Wireless earphone review, we will check out all the aspects of the neckband like Appearance, Build Quality, Comfort and Fit, Features, Battery life, sound quality, and we will find out whether it is worth to spend our money on it or not.

Unboxing of Realme Buds Wireless

1 Realme Buds Wireless Bluetooth Earphones

1 USB to the Micro-USB charging cable

2 Extra pairs of Ear Cushions excluding the one Pre-installed (1 pair of a small, medium, and big).

Quick Guide Book

Realme Buds Wireless Bluetooth earphones comes in a very attractive and simple package. The white-colored retail box has a Realme logo on the top right corner and the image of the earphones in front. On both, the sides the box has Realme logo and the backside of the box really shows all the uniԛue features of Realme Buds Wireless.

Some features of these earphones are magnetic control, 11.2-millimeter bass boost driver, 12 hours of playback, flexible necklace, Bluetooth 5.0, and IPX4 rating. Below the feature section, we can see the MRP of the device which is 2,000 rupees. But you can get this earphone below the MRP on Amazon check it now.

Meanwhile, inside, we see the Buds Wireless button stuck to the plastic tray. Realme used the space ԛuite ingeniously, with a small drawer under this top layer that houses the two pairs of extra ear tips for a precise fit, quick guide book (user manuals), and last but not the least we also get the charging cable.

There are two flaws in the Buds Wireless realm that we can immediately identify: there are no other wing tips included in the package; therefore if the defaults don’t work for you, it’s too bad.

The other issue is the use of micro-USB to charge, which is definitely not ideal. But, since realme still uses micro USB in most of its smartphone line, it is probably forgivable by the target audience.

Appearance of Realme Buds Wireless Earphone

The sporty looking earphones are ԛuite compact, despite having large 11.2 mm bass drivers. Making them perfect for sports or other vigorous activities are the wingtips, which are only available in that size.

Black and yellow seem to be the constant theme in Realme’s line of headphones, and we’re not complaining. The colors contrast very well and add a fresh touch. There are green and red options as well, but the black and yellow is one of my favorites.

I think the contrast of the yellow cords is a charming touch, which is also extended to the tips of the ears, which have a yellow core. The realme brand here is also ԛuite subtle, which is cool.

Meanwhile, the neckband comes all black, with a smooth and soft finish that may or may not withstand contact with sweat for a long time. The control module is at one end, while what I would say is that the battery (since it has the charging port) is at the other.

Realme Buds Wireless controls are pretty basic, with just three buttons.

Design of Realme Buds Wireless Earphone

Realme has been consistent with its design options for its accessories, and Realme Buds Wireless follows the same tradition. Buds wireless is a neckband-style earphone which is quite trending these days.

The neck strap is very robust, and the inline remote control case is metallic, which makes it look premium. Not only it looks premium but also feels premium which is evident by holding and using this earphone.

design of realme buds wireless earphone
Design of Realme Buds Wireless Bluetooth Earphone

The cables that connect the neckband to the headphones are fluted, an indication that Realme paid close attention to detail. The remote control module has buttons with yellow details, which again increases the overall appearance.

When used, Realme Buds Wireless is comfortable and does not look heavy. They are not the most comfortable when performing or performing rigorous activities, but so do all neckband style earphones. The bud is made of plastic with a matte finish and has the Realme logo.

The two headsets fit together via magnets, which not only facilitates transport but also serves a purpose that we will talk about later. Realme Buds Wireless is IPX4 rated for sweat resistance, which means you can use them at the gym without worries, but don’t dip them in water.

Build Quality of Realme Buds Wireless

The headset has a flexible neckband with metal modules on the ends, short cables leading to the earBuds, and the plastic earBuds itself, giving it a premium feel. We really liked the yellow-black color scheme of our review unit.

The device feels like a polished one and the material used is great and of high quality. Overall the build quality is fantastic and I don’t think you will face any build quality issues but these are electronic products so you can’t trust them.

The design is simple, and the build quality is reasonable. The device is light with only 31.8 g.

Comfort and Fitting of Realme Buds Wireless

Comfort and fitting are the vital aspects when buying any earphones or headphones because you don’t want to be stuck with an earphone which you can’t wear for more than a minute. So, be careful.

For the fitting, the Realme bus comes with ear hooks which means it’s not going to slip out of ears every now then and if you intend to use it in running or workout it should be fine. Hooks are removable so if you don’t want to use it, you can easily remove them.

If you use the earphone while running or have jerky movements, then the neckband is likely to wobble sideways.

The Realme buds wireless earphones are comfortable to wear and long-lasting on a stretch. However, it’s not that much comfortable, there are much more comfortable earphones like the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z but buds wireless are average in terms of comfort.

Features of Realme Buds Wireless Earphone

When it comes to features, you will be absolutely amazed at how Realme managed to praise it aggressively. The Realme Buds Wireless costs just Rs 1,799 and comes with features in earphones that double.

The Realme Buds Wireless Earphone use the latest Bluetooth 5.0 to connect to smart devices. And support many Bluetooth protocols such as FP, A2DP, HSP, and AVRCP.

With Magnetic Fast Pair (MFP), the Realme Buds Wireless is automatically propelled into the upper region of audio accessories. With MFP, you get one of the most convenient audio experiences you can imagine.

With this magnetic lock-like feature, you get a lot of features, such as quick syncing with a Realme smartphone like the XT. This feature works like the Apple AirPods and an iPhone, or OnePlus Bullets Wireless and an OnePlus device.

When the Buds are detached and next to a Realme XT, a message will appear on the smartphone, indicating that the Buds are ready to pair. This works when Bluetooth is enabled on the handset.

For other devices, all you have to do is go into the settings menu and find the earphones in the Bluetooth menu and pair them easily.

Once the earBuds are paired, the listening experience is seamless, and each time they are attached or detached, the music turns on or off, respectively. This means that when the earBuds are separated, the earphone automatically connects to the last paired smartphone for fast connectivity.

The Realme Buds Wireless Earphone comes with IPX4 protection which allows it to be the standard water and sweat resistance offered by many earphones nowadays. You can very easily use them around water.

The downside of this earphone is that it can’t connect to multiple devices at once.

Noise Cancellation

The Realme Buds Wireless offers passive noise isolation as it lacks active noise cancellation technology. But it does a very good job in passive voice cancellation which moderately isolates the outside environment. Moderately because you can still be aware of your surrounding.

To increase the isolation, it’s important to experiment with the different ear tips and choose the ones that give you a perfect seal.

Battery Life Of Realme Buds Wireless

The realme Buds wireless Bluetooth earphone has decent battery life. The earphone is equipped with a Lithium Polymer 110 mAh battery.

Realme claims a battery life of up to 12 hours at 50% volume, and while that seems far-fetched, we’ve managed to get about 9.5 hours of battery on a single charge with 60% volume, which is on par with most other neckband Wireless earphones. So, you need to charge these earphones twice a day if you are a very heavy user.

However, charging the earphones takes more than an hour i.e. approximately 90 minutes with a 10W charger. So make sure to save them in advance if you are traveling.

There is a fast-charging feature on this earphone, and are said to offer 100 minutes of listening time on a 10-minute charge when the battery is drained.

You can also use the magnet lock feature of this earphone to conserve the battery. Suppose if you are not using them then just use the magnet and keep them down. This is really good for these earphones under these price tags.

The Realme Buds wireless charges via a micro-USB port, and while we wanted it to come with USB-C, we can’t really complain given the price tag of less than Rs. 2000. However, nowadays almost every new phone comes with a USB-C charger including the Realme XT.

biggest downside
For me, the absence of a USB-C port is the biggest downside of this earphone. Personally, I don’t want to carry two charging cables as I am using OnePlus 7 Pro as my daily driver.

Charging the Realme Buds Wireless earphones

For charging the Realme Buds Wireless earphones you just plug your normal 10W charger in the micro-USB charging port present on the earphone.

red light will display which indicates that the earphone is charging. When the earphone is fully charged, a blue light will display.

Realme Buds Wireless Charging Time

In our tests with a 10W charger, the Realme Buds Wireless charged from 0 to 100% in 89 minutes and 42 seconds, which is not very good for a wireless earphone

Sound Quality And Performance of Realme Buds Wireless

Like Realme Buds 2, the sound quality offered is some of the best for its price, and we would also like to say that the same goes to the Realme Buds Wireless also. In fact, the Realme Buds Wireless is way above its weight and can even compete with more expensive alternatives such as the first-generation Bullets Wireless from OnePlus.

Realme prioritizes bass in all its earphones, and the same can be said with this buds wireless too. The Realme Buds Wireless is equipped with a 11.2 mm bass boosted driver with a “super bass tone” in each earbud.

The Realme Buds wireless is a bass oriented earphones. If you hate earphones with a lot of Bass, you should look for something else like the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z. However, if you love bass then you will surely like this earphone.

The earphone has been tuned by World famous DJ and Music Producer Alan Walker, so obviously these earphones are tuned for Electronic Dance Music (EDM). The bass is punchy and elevated which is great for EDM music.

Sound quality of Boat rockerz 255 wireless bluetooth earphone

The elevation of the bass is done in a good way and is not overpowering. The mid-tones are separated from the instruments even at the elevated bass.

The sound is spicy and has an appearance. The vocals are also clear, and unlike the Realme Buds 2, there is no interference even at high frequencies. The buds wireless has an enjoyable depth.

In the mid-tones area, Realme has done a good job but there is still space for improvement and it could have been slightly better.

The treble tones at highs are good enough and are not ear-piercing but if you want extra spark in high-tones, you won’t find it in this earphone.

A minor problem for pets is that the maximum volume could have been slightly higher. Purely based on sound quality, the Realme Buds Wireless offers a great experience. However, the sound quality of this earphone is not eargasmic but it is definitely satisfying.

Call ԛuality, on the other hand, is not the best because the microphone picks up some ambient noise, so it can sometimes be difficult for the other party to hear you. This is only in noisy environments. You should be fine with calling in.

The Realme Buds Wireless is not suitable for gaming because there’s a noticeable delay from when you see something on the screen when you actually hear it. It doesn’t affect movies or videos, so you can use these for your Netflix binges in flights.

How To Connect or Pair Realme Buds Wireless To Laptop/Smartphones/Tablets

Connecting your Realme Buds wirelessly to your smartphone is not a difficult task, just like connecting the normal Bluetooth device. First, make sure Realme Buds is charged, if not charges then connect the earphone to charging cable.

Secondly, switch on the Bluetooth of the smartphone/laptop/tablet, etc, and make it discoverable. Next, separate the magnetic earbuds from each other.

OnePlus Wireless Bullets Z vs Realme Buds Wireless

Oneplus Bullet Wireless Z is a neckband earphone that comes with plastic construction, but very good quality earplugs are comfortable and sturdy with a soft finish.

Likewise, Realme earplugs are also a plastic neckband design with excellent build ԛuality and comfortable earplugs.

Oneplus bullet wireless Z has a huge 20 hours battery life with support for type C fast charging, you can charge it in 10 minutes for 10 hours of playback with one plus dash charger.

Realme wireless earbuds have a battery life of approximately 10-12 hours and cannot be charged as quickly as the Oneplus wireless; you can listen for 100 minutes with 10 minutes of charging. Oneplus Bullet Wireless Z costs 1999 Rs, while Realme Buds Wireless costs 1799 Rs.

If you want a better overall sound with heavy bass, go for Realme Buds wireless or if you want a big battery with good enough sound and fast charging and an option for the ԛuick switch go for the Oneplus Bullet Wireless (they offer decent bass, but Realme produces better Heavy Bass).

Realme Wireless Earphones Versus Boat Rockerz 255 Pro

The Realme buttons Wireless have 11.2 mm bass boosted driver and playback time of 12 hours , while the Boat rockerz have 10.0 mm driver and playback time of 6 hours only, giving you a better and long duration music, while even in the Boat rockerz 255 Pro, there are not many compromises, but you will definitely get better results in the Realme Buds Wireless.

Realme Buds Wireless, as this review shows, could easily be placed among the very best headphones in their price range. I usually check the price of earphones before starting a review to get an idea of how they should sound when they are good.

With Realme Buds Wireless, I haven’t done that for a number of reasons, but it’s fair to say I was cheated thinking they are much more expensive than they are.

Price of Realme Buds Wireless

The earphones are priced at ₹1789 but you can also get this earphone for lower than ₹1789/- at the time of sale, which is a reasonable price. Check the latest price of this Realme Buds Wireless earphone on Amazon.

Realme Buds Wireless Warranty Period

The warranty is for 6 months and only manufacturing defects are covered in the warranty, not physical damages.

Is Realme Buds Wireless Worth It?

I initially expected the price to drop to just below Rs 2000. At Rs 1,789, these earBuds are a bargain based only on sound ԛuality. If they take into account the battery life of more than 12 hours without having to turn them all the way down, they get closer to impossible good.

The small caveat that they can be easily disrupted by other devices will not be a factor for most users. As mentioned above, that only seemed to happen when those other devices were placed between the phone and the earbuds. And that’s probably not common in most scenarios.

Audio quality is a very subjective issue for most users. It is safe to say that there are better sounding earplugs on the market. They will typically range in cost from around $ 100 to over $ 400. In the price range that realme Buds Wireless focuses on, finding something better will be a chore.

Verdict

The market is filled with various brands offering earphones in the sub-Rs 2K price range. However, there are very few of renowned brands. Now that Realme has priced the Buds Wireless at Rs 1,799, they may have blown away completion by offering features rarely found at this price.

Of course, the earphones are not of audiophile quality and don’t even come with a USB-C charging port. However, the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, and Realme focuses on a segment that is exploited to be exploited.

The Realme Buds Wireless is a testament to the fact that you don’t have to break the bank to get cheap, high-ԛuality earphones and Realme does this with a panache that only they know how to offer.
